When is violence an option? A therapeutic glimpse.

We don't dodge the hard questions at Healthy Perspectives. Wrestling with the question about violence is no easy task. Simply having the conversation makes people feel like it encourages violence but not having the conversation may be more dangerous than having it. We care about having the conversation in a way that promotes healthy understanding and healthy decision making. In no way is this intended to encourage violence as the solution to your circumstance. Violence is a last resort and must be used with caution and respect because it has lasting effects even when it is reasonable. We explore empathy in a situation that is a lose-lose situation. Keep in mind your own bias as you listen and ally with one character over another. The issue isn't that you do this, it's your awareness that you do it and the exploration as to why that will improve your empathy...or not.
