Today, we explore the psychological and sociological issues behind a government shutdown. Over three weeks into the government shutdown that we were told would mess up our lives, and most people don't even feel it. The longer it goes, the more we have to question what our government is actually accomplishing while it's open and running. Are we spending time, energy, and resources in the most effective way? Should we cut more programs? What does this situation teach us about how we function?

We propose an alternative and provide sound reasoning for why you might want to start a group of people yourself. The selfish version is that you need a group anyway. However, there's more to it when we look at it culturally.

Controversial government shutdown talk - it's not really "healthcare"

The recent shutdown of the government has created a lot of conversation about what people call "healthcare". The reality is different than what you want it to be. "Healthcare" costs a lot of money, and it's not actually improving health most of the time. We provide some simple data to explain the premise. We are intimately aware that access to care has saved lives, but we can't miss the forest for the trees. This episode looks at the forest because the answers are right in front of us as long as we're willing to see them.
